I’m Scott Dunham. I’m a web developer living in the Chicago suburbs.
I’ve been building and designing websites for quite a few years now, mostly on WordPress.
I’ve worked for a wide range of companies doing everything from UX and UI design, to Front-End development, WordPress development, network administration, desktop support, photography and video production. While I know that a varying list, most of the core of what I’ve done is mainly WordPress and Front-end development. But I also have a knack for photography as well.
About this site:
Yeah, let’s talk about this…
Since a majority of my work the past few years has been within platform development, I haven’t needed to create a “portfolio” based site. I figured that less was always the best and that I could get away with just a simple web page and then a Behance profile along with some little bits on CodePen, for those occasions that I would work on what could be considered a “portfolio” item.
But as time as passed by, I realized that I should probably have something that I can contribute to rather than just letting everything fall to the way side. I’ve tried my hand at a few static site generators, which have been okay. But after giving it some more thought, I should just stick to what I know and just get something going again.
So that’s where we are at as of now.
Yes, I know that this is a generic theme from WordPress. And there’s a reason for that. I do agree that it’s silly for a person who knows how to create a custom WordPress theme from scratch is using a pre-built theme, however, since the focus here is about getting content for myself on the web, the best thing to do is just that; start working. A theme is a theme and it can and will change over time, but it’s the content that counts, so that what I’m sticking with for now.
I’m currently working on resurrecting a theme from long ago called AutoFocus. It was one of my favorite WordPress themes from a few years back, but it has no longer been maintained. So, I’m taking it upon myself to give it new light. You can see the project here on GitHub.
Aside from development, I enjoy cycling adventures and photography.
